We wish all the devotees a very Happy Dassera!
The festival of Dassera, also known as Vijayadashmi is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm for ten continuous days. The first nine nights are spent in the worship of goddess Durga and hence these nights are known as “Navaratri”. This festival commemorates the victory of the goddess Durga (an incarnation of Parvati, consort of Shiva) over the demon Mahisasura. It is also celebrated as a remembrance of the victory of Lord Sri Ramachandra (an incarnation of Vishnu) over Ravana. Therefore, the Victory of Dharma or Vijayadashmi is celebrated on the tenth day.
To mark the auspicious occasion of DURGAASHTAMI, GARBA & RAAS will be performed around Goddess Durga (Amba).
TEMPLE GARBA ENTRANCE FEE IS MATCHED BY NAMASTE PLAZA :
Please save your Garba entrance ticket. Namaste Plaza has graciously come forward to support the temple effort
by asking you to present your garba tickets to them. You have a choice to either receive $3 worth of free groceries
per ticket or let Namste Plaza donate $3 per ticket to the temple.
Due to facility rules and restrictions, dinner will not be served. Prasad will be distributed after the arathi.
For donating Prasad (Dry fruits only) please drop off at Harish Patel (1804 Woodbine Road, Blm, 309-662-9154) or Nayana Gandhi (1308 Broad Creek Road, Bloomington, 309-662-5044) residence. They need this by Thursday (24th of September) night.
If you are interested in learning Garba-Raas for this event, please come to Nayana Gandhi's House (1308 Broad Creek Road, Bloomington, 309-662-5044) 8 PM to 10 PM on Thursday 24th of September.
