Vasanta Panchami is dedicated to Saraswathi, the Goddess of knowledge. We worship Goddess Saraswathi to dispel ignorance and to be bestowed with knowledge. It is believed that worshipping Goddess Saraswathi on Vasanta Panchami will enlighten the worshipper with abundant knowledge. Therefore kids are encouraged to perform Saraswathi Puja on this day to excel in education and arts. It is highly auspicious to perform Aksharabhyasam for young children on this day to initiate the child in to education by guiding them to write their first words.
